Dr. Hemika Vempalli joins the lab as our first Post Doctoral Associate!

In 2023, I decided to change my research to focus on positive psychology and protective factors. Rather than asking "What deficits does trauma impose on women?" I wanted to ask "What makes women better?"

 The universe heard me loud and clear and sent Dr. Hemika Vempalli my way!

Hemika brought a clinical knowledge that complimented the work we're doing...she questioned without challenging, she was open-minded and receptive. Hemika got the vision. And...she loved Yoga and sunsets!

In June 2024, Hemika presented two of our abstracts at the 2024 National Neurotrauma Symposium and made us so, so proud! Our posters were unique, eye-catching, relatable, and attractive to so many!

In June 2025, the manuscript was selected as one of 120 articles that the Journal of Integrative and Complementary Medicine publishes each year in their 12 issues!

What an honor!
